MMS is first and foremost a community. As a Montessori school, we embrace the vision Maria Montessori held for education and understand that learning is the ultimate tool with which we will build a peaceful world.

Meadow Montessori students represent the racial, economic, and religious diversity of Monroe County and the surrounding communities, some traveling from locations as far as Grosse Pointe, Ann Arbor, Adrian, and Jackson, as well as Toledo, Ohio.

We build a diverse learning community by acknowledging that different ideas, beliefs, personal gifts, life experiences, and talents are essential to our community.

New students are accepted on an eight-week trial basis. At the end of that period, the teacher and Head of School determines if the student and our school community are a match.

No grade levels?
Following Montessori pedagogy, our classrooms are organized with three "grades" in each level.

Why? Among the many reasons, first and foremost is that mixing age levels allows for more fluidity in curriculum to meet each child's strengths and weaknesses.
